I have been involved in semi pro football since 1964 when I played for a team in Miami that paid me $100 per game.  Since the minimum wage was $1.15 per hour in 1964, I thought that I had reached the "big time".  I had gone to Miami after being discharged from the U S Air Force in 1964 because I had heard that the American Football League was going to put a team in Miami.  They did, in fact, add the Miami Dolphins to the AFL in 1966, but by then I had returned to my home town in Texarkana.  In 1967 I organized and played for the Texarkana Titans that became a member of the Continental Football League.  Since 1964 I have been involved in semi pro football as a player, coach, team owner, and league organizer.

There have been many attempts to organize and operate a new pro football league, but since the AFL began in 1960 all of these attempts have failed.

There are hundreds of semi pro teams that play every year throughout the U S and even in Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas, but players on these teams do not get paid and in most cases players have to pay most of their expenses such as uniforms, insurance, travel, etc.

There are a number of indoor leagues that pay players two hundred or three hundred dollars per game.  These leagues have struggled every year, and there have been instances of bounced checks and unpaid salaries.  The Arena Football League cancelled their 2009 season, and there is some doubt that they will return in 2010.

I believe that a new pro league can pay its players by paying only a few players and then expanding the payroll as the league expands and grows, but I may be the only person that believes this can work.

There needs to be a new professional football league that can pay players in the range of $500 to $1000 per game.

All players must sign a Player Membership Agreement.  Go to the Player Membership link.

There are more than 1,000 minor league football teams in North America.  I believe that these teams working together could organize and operate such a league.

Since it is very difficult to get these teams and leagues to work together to accomplish anything, I will organize and operate the UFTA in 2010.  We will open our league office in Hueytown, Alabama on May 1, 2009 and begin interviewing players, coaches, and other personnel.  Go to our Plan of Operation link.

Players should go to the player registration link.  Coaches and other personnel should email a brief resume with contact information.  We will contact players, coaches, and other personnel concerning  interviews.  We will begin to open offices nationwide.
